Message From President and CEO

A Message From Gail Kass

As President and CEO of NewCourtland Elder Services it is my pleasure to welcome you to our website.

So much has been accomplished in the years since the NewCourtland organization was founded in 1995. The nursing homes in our network which once suffered financially, clinically, and operationally are now widely recognized as nurturing, clinically excellent and well run. They are home to more than 1600 residents who enjoy a broad array of activities which include intergenerational programming through the Comfort & Joy TM program.

In an effort to better serve the needs of elders in the community, NewCourtland has developed housing for elders of limited financial means, and supportive programs like LIFE (Living Independently For Elders), and home care with an emphasis on the innovative use of technology (Courtland At Home). On the drawing board are further plans which will bring the number of elders served in the community to equal those served in network nursing homes.

All of the homes and the services in the NewCourtland network are distinguished by the partnership of caring that exists with the hard working staff without which there would be no quality of life or quality care for the residents and clients. This partnership is encompassed by NewCourtland’s PRIDE program; Provide Respect, Incentives, career Development and Education, and demonstrated in programs like NewCourtland’s Ladder of Opportunity which funds and encourages nurses and care staff at all levels to advance their careers.

Today the population of elders is growing and the numbers of young people to care for them is shrinking. This is no time for any organization, least of all the elements in the NewCourtland network, to relax their efforts to remain the innovative providers and employers of choice in the area of long term care needs for elders in Philadelphia.

We encourage you to continue exploring our website to stay informed about existing and new programs as well as employment opportunities in the NewCourtland network.
