Innovate

What is innovation?

It means taking the lead on identifying new ways to assist older adults to live happier, healthier lives. Simply put, it is creating solutions for problems. However, the solution requires thinking on a different level or in a different way. Sometimes this different level is referred to as “thinking outside of the box.”

Here are a few projects that NewCourtland is currently working on that are outside of the box:

Rapid Housing with Services: A demonstration program that provides housing with supportive services to people who experience homelessness. NewCourtland has partnered with United Health Care and Veterans Affairs to recruit and house people with complex medical and social needs. The Center for Health Equity Research and Promotion at the VA has funded a feasibility evaluation of the program and will look at the acceptability of the program and resident outcomes including self-reported physical and mental health and community reintegration.

Air Filtration System: This is a joint effort with a local business, to install stand-alone and portable air filtration units throughout the Germantown Home to improve air quality in resident rooms.
