NewCourtland Launches New Internal Research Department

  • Posted on Jul 29, 2022

We’re pleased to announce that we’ve launched a new program on our website newcourtland.org/research  that provides an overview of the research we are doing at NewCourtland. We have several amazing researchers, Ashley Ritter, APRN, PhD is the Director of Clinical Care Research at NewCourtland, Dr. Alan Glicksman, Ph.D. serves as Embedded Scientist, and research assistant Lucas Hoban, working on a variety of issues and are happy to share some of their work.

NewCourtland embraces innovation and has been investing in research to power that innovation for several years. This started with an early focus in areas of concern to practice and policy across a broad spectrum of topics. While this has worked well internally, we have found through relationships established with researchers at other institutions, we can draw on expertise in many areas relevant to NewCourtland’s efforts.

The site will be a resource to share various publications, articles, and blog posts that are focused on outcomes to healthcare concerns and challenges across a broad spectrum. Some of our active projects are highlighted below:

  1. Inclusive Care of People who experience Opioid Use Disorder in Nursing Homes: Developing a Core Curriculum
  2. Beyond English Proficiency: Older Adults Negotiating Health and Social Services
  3. “Dear Pandemic”, an online communication platform created to support and empower individuals, especially women, to navigate science and public health information successfully during the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) pandemic. Dear Pandemic has published nearly 1,500 posts on Covid-related topics ranging from “staying safe” to “uncertainty and misinformation,” “social and racial justice,” and “vaccines.” (Archives of the posts are on a website here.) The group has 80,000 followers across all their platforms and reaches about 1 million people a month.

Going forward we expect our research efforts to continue to grow as we keep finding new and better ways to support the vision and mission of NewCourtland.
