On Thursday, November 17, 2016 NewCourtland donated more than 1,400 turkeys, which will be distributed by local elected officials and community organizations. In a tradition that spans more than ten years, NewCourtland’s donated turkeys will feed local low-income families this holiday season, ensuring that everyone has a meal to be thankful for.

Featured officials and groups picked up the turkeys, which will be distributed in the coming week. Notable volunteers included: The offices of Senator Shirley Kitchen and State Rep. Tonyelle Cook-Artis, Feast of Justice Food Bank, Big Brothers/Big Sisters, Tioga United, Tacony Seniors, Canaan Baptist Church and others.

“This tradition stretches back over a decade, with our organization donating more than 10,000 turkeys during that time,” says R. Max Kent, Assistant Vice President of Plans and Logistics for NewCourtland. “It’s our way of ensuring that all Philadelphians have an opportunity to share a holiday meal with family and friends.”

Throughout the day, music and food were shared in the festive atmosphere as turkeys were given out to the volunteers for distribution.
